Água de garrafa X Água encanada … Bottled Water X Tap Water

Bottled Water X Tap Water

Another day  I was talking to my cousin who lives in Canada, and she said that her niece was afraid of dentists, so I said, but she is so young and already have cavities? she said, yes she has many, then I remembered that my dentist said that Brazil if a 8 years old child has a cavity is rare …. I told her this and she said, well Sandra, but there children do not drink only bottled water right?
Well, then I realized , children in richer countries only take bottled water and what happens,? has no fluoride! which is necessary for the health of the teeth…..
That conversation made me think…Why people insist on using water bottle once we have tap water provided by the government through our taxes?
I did a search to see if the choice of the majority of people had reason to be ….

I found that despite the worldwide perception that bottled water is more healthy, there is no difference between the tap water and bottled water.

Bottled water industry is the fastest growing beverage in the world, however, a study conducted by the University of Geneva says that the only difference between these two is that one water is distributed through pipes and other by bottles.

Bottled water may seem a relatively new idea – born during a time of greater awareness of water pollution during the last two or three decades. However, water has been bottled and sold far from its source for thousands of years.

In Europe, mineral springs water was often thought to have healing powers and sometimes religious. Pioneers traveling the western United States during the 19th century also typically considered buying drinking water in anticipation of the long journey through the arid West.

Today, there are dozens of brands of bottled water and many different types, including gas and flavor to choose.

If bottled water is better than tap water, and justifies its expense, remains under debate. Stephen Kay, IBWA Vice President of the (International Bottled Water Association), says member bottlers are selling the quality, consistency and safety that bottled water promises, and also do a service to those municipalities whose systems do not provide good quality drinking water .

“Bottled water is produced and regulated exclusively for human consumption,” says Kay. “Some people in their local markets have the luxury of good water. Other not.”

THORNLEY, the Minnesota Department of Health, agrees that consumers can depend on bottled water safety and quality. But he says that consumers should feel the same way about the quality of their tap water.

Tap water may sometimes looks or taste different, he says, but that does not mean it is unsafe. In fact, the most dangerous contaminants are those that consumers can not see, smell it or taste, he says. But consumers need not worry about your presence, he adds.

The municipal water system serving 25 people or more is under the federal drinking water. As such, water is constantly and thoroughly tested for harmful substances, he says. If there is a problem, the consumer will be notified through the media or other outlets.

Did you know that bottled water in the U.S. is not subject to the same standards as tap water? The Environmental Protection Agency sets standards for water that comes out of your sink, bottled water is regulated by the Food and Drug Administration, USA that is different – and much less stringent – set of criteria for determining what may be in your drink.

In addition, it has been said here, there is also the economic factor, if you filter your water at home will surely make a good economy and still keep the environmentalists happy, because they, as always, are complaining of all packs of  used bottle of water that are daily threw away which makes a large amount of non-degradable waste and so represent a major threat to humanity ….

Here is my article for you to think over.
